“If you drive an EV, be aware of the charging situation here. The hotel uses ChargePoint chargers that cost $3.75 per hour, but the charger only delivers about 6 kW, which makes it extremely slow. When you do the math, the cost per kWh ends up being about double the price of a Tesla Supercharger. Even worse, the charger keeps billing you as long as your car is plugged in, even after the car has finished charging. So if you’re staying overnight, you either have to wake up and move your car or keep getting charged for hours you’re not even using electricity. For a hotel, this is really disappointing. EV charging should be a reasonable amenity for guests, similar to charging at home or at least priced competitively with public fast chargers. At the current rate, it’s so expensive that most guests simply won’t use it. If hotels want to support EV drivers, they need to rethink pricing and how the billing works.” — R.B.
