What drivers have written

“The charging situation here has become unsustainable and unfair. Although overnight charging is not allowed, a large majority of the stalls (often ~70%) are occupied by Teslas using J1772 adapters. Many appear to be parking for extended periods, effectively turning these public, mixed-use chargers into overflow Tesla charging. Meanwhile, non-Tesla drivers who genuinely need a charge are pushed out. I’ve even witnessed families waiting with infants, unpacking strollers just to hold onto a spot while their Tesla charges—this shows how desperate and broken the system has become. The root issue seems obvious: Tesla Supercharger pricing nearby is extremely high (often $0.50–$0.60/kWh), while BART charging is under $0.20/kWh. This price gap incentivizes abuse. Adding to the problem, nearby apartment complexes with thousands of units reportedly have only one or two chargers, forcing residents to rely on this station. Tesla needs to deploy more Superchargers in this area, and BART needs better enforcement or time limits to prevent long-term occupation. Public chargers should remain accessible to all EV drivers, not dominated by one brand exploiting lower rates.” — Eddie Pan, 7 months ago
