“There was a car charging when I arrived to document a charging station of which I was aware, sitting behind a hotel in nearby Sierra Vista. The charge rate was 6.6 KW. To put that in perspective, I can charge my truck from 20% to 80% in roughly 35 minutes using a charger running 150 kW (max capacity for my Ford Lightning). So 35 minutes at 150 kW means about 785 minutes or over 13 hours at 6.6 kW. Remember, that's 20% to 80%, not 100%. In other words, the only reason to use this charger is if 1) it's free, and 2) you won't need your EV for several hours. Of course, the car may have a much smaller battery capacity than my Ford Lightning. I would only use this charger in dire straits.” — Shawn Hendricks, 2 years ago
