What drivers have written
“Awesome views and last time I checked it was still operating without payment required. That said, do not make a stop at this charger your only option charging/trip wise. It is the slowest of slow (I think 5-7.5kW) and in my experience with a Nissan Leaf in 2014 ended up being maybe twice as fast as charging from a regular US 110v household power outlet. It could take like 24 hours (or more) to charge a large electric vehicle here so be prepared to wait if you can get to it at all. The charger area is also frequently occupied or blocked by oblivious non-electric vehicle parking. Beautiful views from the neighborhood community (now called Sabino Vista Apartment Homes) it is located in and feels safe. There’s also a nice pool, patio, and hot-tub with semi covered patio and two separate bathrooms towards back of the deck, right in front of the charger. Maybe that would be a nice place to hang out for a few hours while charging for residents or their friends/family? Overall, I am thankful to have this awesome free amenity that I totally want to remain in existence, to be clear! A suggestion might be to add a second 15kW, higher powered charging station at an adjacent parking spot or maybe upgrade the 7.5kW charger with a more reasonable 240v 20kW or higher energy (in terms of kW actually delivered to the vehicle and not total electrical supply load rating) charge point. It will instantly be useful to all modern electric vehicles driven by residents, as opposed to their electric bike batteries. Vehicles likely driven by residents with huge battery packs could realistically charge within hours instead of days or never, in the real world (could legitimately take the whole 5-7.5kW charger connection just to refrigerate the interior of the vehicle. and its battery. WHILE charging and producing even more heat that requires even more energy to exhaust in the summer when ~115 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperature during the whole day could be considered normal during summer months).” — Lee Bohay, 4 years ago
