“This is a great Tesla charging station but it’s labeled as “temporarily closed” in the Tesla app. I’m assuming that’s because the Avalon mall location wants the spots reserved for shoppers and not travelers and transients/uber drivers. You can park for one hour and there are so many great stores close by like lululemon, athleta, banana republic and more. Lots of nice restaurants also. “This is a Tesla only charging station and this woman in a non-Tesla vehicle was making one spot completely inaccessible (in addition to the one she was using) by charging her vehicle and would not move. Had to drive all the way to Decatur for an emergency and this completely ruined my plans and caused so much stress. I wish an attendant would be in the area to make sure this wouldn’t happen… there were also multiple stations completely not working, which didn’t help.” — Sara, 3 months ago

“I will agree with some of the other comments for this location…it’s congested. There are so many Teslas in the area and this is quite a difficult spot to get to and to maneuver around. That being said, on the day I charged, I was able to pull right up and plug in with no issues. It was a perfectly enjoyable experience for me, but I can imagine it being a pain if you go at the wrong time when it is uber crowded and congested. Plenty of shopping and dining in the area to pass the time, and check out the Tesla shop around the corner which has the latest including the CyberTruck and Optimus bot (as of December 2023)” — Kevin McCabe, 2 years ago
