“I’ve had very miserable experiences at these ChargeLab stations The station doesn’t say it’s a ChargeLab station it says it’s MidAmerican Energy Company. Apparently the stations were bought out. You will not find the word “ChargeLab” anywhere in sight. But that’s what it is. This thing will not work until you download the ChargeLab app. Otherwise, you will scan your credit card in vain. They have a QR code on the kiosk to scan to get the app. That QR code will not work. You’ll get an error message. “The ChargeLab app does not exist….!!” Take heart, my weary traveler, the app does exist! You’ll need to search for the ChargeLab app in the App Store. And there it is! Download the ChargeLab app, sign in, turn your location on, and find your station. The app will go back and forth between saying the station you are standing at is out of order, back in order, unavailable, available, ready, not ready, and back again. It’s a fun little game. It’s like wack-a-mole! Wait for the screen on the kiosk to say it’s ready to go, you’ll have to give it a minute. The screen on the phone app might say it’s NOT ready to go. It lies to you. In this case, trust the kiosk. It should work. If whole thing turns off (it might!), start over in the app. But remember, the app might tell you it’s not working…But don’t freak out yet, it might be working. You just gotta be patient and speak softly to it. So in summary: - You need to have the app to make it work. - Make sure it’s the right app - ChargeLab - The app may say it’s not working. That doesn’t mean anything. - Now that you have the app, it may actually be working. - The KEY to it working IS the app even though the app will lie to you about it working - Pay through the app. - If you do a little EV dance to the EV gods… …it just might start charging.
