“Big thanks to ChargePoint and this Road Runner Market for providing the option for some of the aging out EV plugs. While there are probably 4 dozen or more Tesla chargers around town, the amount of level 3 CCS stations are much more limited. Until the 8 EA chargers were recently installed at Walmart in South Asheville, I believe it was just these and the 4 at Sam's Club anywhere close to downtown Asheville. There are two chargers on the side of the gas station when you drive in. When one is currently in use, the light at the top will illuminate blue instead of green, and it's easy to see from the road. I think I was paying in the mid $0.40s/kWh and the speed is decent enough though not anywhere close to the 350 at EA. 160kWh max here if I remember right. My Volkswagen has probably topped out at 100 though I've never charged with another vehicle at the other simultaneously. No issue with the plugs, getting the session to start (via the app in my case) or the chargers being broken or vandalized any time I've ever had to charge there. All in all, it is a great option to have right off I-40 and close to a bunch of businesses. The only real drawback, in my opinion, has nothing to do with the chargers themselves. The surrounding area is notoriously sketchy - rough motels, homeless camps nearby in the woods, the train tracks across the highway. I haven't really been hassled too much, but these chargers are off the side of the building away from everything else. If you wish to avoid this, consider driving a few more miles to the EA chargers at Sam's Club.
