“The Electric Vehicle Institute chargers at Maryland House and Chesapeake House rest stops along I-95 in MD are old and in desperate need of repair or replacement. At least 3 of these 12 chargers seem to be permanently out of commission with blank screens. The other chargers do not work for many models of cars. I have personally witnessed Polestars, BMWs, Volts and many other models older and newer fail to charge at the "working" chargers. I suspect the chargers need a software update. Drivers are having to go from charger to charger to find one that will initialize, and sometimes driving off with no charge at all. There is often no answer to the phone number on the screens. I challenge someone from the Electric Vehicle Institute to spend a few hours at each of these rest stops during busy hours and talk to EV owners who are attempting to use the chargers, and you will find out the sad reality of the situation.
