“6 Charge Point chargers located in Town Hall parking lot very close to the entrance. Bathrooms are available in the recreation pavilion, though they may be seasonal. Location is a few yards past the 35 mile Erie Canal Trailhead. However the pricing is poorly implemented. There are 3 charges, a fee to start the session, a price per kWh, and an hourly charge. Currently (5/26) $0.25 to start, $0.11 per kWh, and $1.32/ an hour. Yes you need a math degree to figure out your cost but for a slow charging car (3.3 kW) my @ 5 kWh cost was $2.70 or about $0.54 per kWh, which is significantly higher than the @$0.17 per kWh cost of electricity around Syracuse. On the other hand, if your car does faster charging (station max is 6.6 kW) the cost for 90 minutes would probably be around $3.30 or $0.33 per kWh. On the third hand if the station does shared power (I do not know if that is the case here since all 6 stations were not being used), it would drop down to the 3.3 speed and the cost would have been the higher $0.54 per kWh. Bottom line, Town of Dewitt, thanks for installing chargers but just charge what you want per kWh and stop the math challenge. And if you are afraid someone is going to leave a car plugged in all day you can set ChargePoint to start charging $5 or $10 an hour either after a set # of hours or after a car is finished charging.” — D Bev, 4 months ago
