“We did a long EV road trip from Cochin → Madurai → Thanjavur → Pollachi → Cochin. We were skeptical of how long-distance EV travel works outside Kerala.! Overall, charging infrastructure in Tamil Nadu is still not as widely available as Kerala, though the roads are much better, which helped with efficiency and safe regenerative braking. Out of all the charging stations we used on this trip, the charging station at “Hydra” was the best in terms of facility, ease of access, safety, and overall experience. The charging station is part of / adjacent to a restaurant called “Ola Kadai” - Search on Google Maps for more details or photos. This place is easy to locate and you will see this before the charging station. Facilities available here make it a very good stop for EV users - clean washrooms, kids play area, neatly landscaped walking space, tea / coffee / snack counter, and a decent restaurant. We had non-veg meals and the food tasted quite good for our palate. Staff was polite and helpful too. When we reached, one Nexon EV was already charging, and the second connector was available, so we could start charging immediately. Charging process was smooth, though you may need to activate one more EV charging app/account. The good part is that this is an "ultra-fast charger", which really helps on long trips. In short, for any EV user traveling on this route, this is a very good and efficient stop - “Charge, Eat, Refresh, and Continue”.” — Syam Krishnan, 7 months ago
