“I recently used the ChargePoint EV charging station located at Kohl’s in Oxford, Florida. My experience was mixed, so I’m giving it a three-star review. While the station was open, clearly marked, and easy to activate with my existing ChargePoint account, there were a few issues worth mentioning. Firstly, my Volkswagen ID.4 was not receiving the full available charge speed advertised at 6.5 kW. Instead, it was barely getting 3 kW. While this slower trickle charging isn’t a huge deal for longer stops, it is a bit frustrating when you’re expecting a quicker top-up during a one-hour shopping trip. At 6.5 kW, I could gain about 20 miles per hour, but at the slower rate, I was only getting around 9 miles per hour. This discrepancy can make a significant difference for those planning their charging stops efficiently. One positive aspect of the station was that both parking spaces on either side were marked for EV charging only. This thoughtful consideration ensures that all types of makes and models can use the ChargePoint station without worrying about their charge inlet location. It promotes ease of access and prevents the frustration of finding the space occupied by non-EV vehicles. Despite the slower charge rate, my overall experience with ChargePoint stations, including their DC fast chargers, has always been positive. The ChargePoint network is reliable, and their stations are generally well-maintained. I appreciate Kohl’s for making level two charging available at an affordable rate, as it supports EV adoption and provides convenience for shoppers like myself. In conclusion, while the slower-than-advertised charging speed was a bit disappointing, the station’s accessibility and the commitment to promoting EV infrastructure are commendable. “$1.00 to get 1.10kwh good for 5 miles. Seems like a great deal. Your not helping the movement of EVs with that pricing. Its usually only 12cents a kwh. Chevy spark has 3.3kw nissan leaf has 6.6kw charger. Some have even less...you cant base the price off how long we are there for. I can fill it up at home for about $1.25 and can do 70 miles...gallon of gas $2.00 which most hybrids get 50mpg...its like im driving an RV trying to use your charger. Tax write off??
