“I was excited that we were finally getting some fast chargers locally, my excitement quickly dwindled when I tried to use them for the first time. Even though all 4 stalls are advertised as 180 kW my experience was far from that. The stalls aren't numbered so you have to plug your vehicle in and then rely on the app to let you know which stall you are connected to. The 2 stalls on the left never registered higher than 34 kW even after several disconnects and restarts (at a $0.49 session fee each time that you connect). I had preconditioned my battery on my way to the charger from Hickory so the cold weather (46°) should not have been an issue. I decided to try the stalls on the right side, the cord on the far right is a CHAdeMO type so therefore not compatible with my vehicle. I had to park diagonally to get the cord on the left side to connect without rubbing on my bumper and possibly scratching it. The highest rate I saw on the first stall on the right side was 75 kW, still a far cry from the 180 kW advertised. It didn't help that it was dark (around 9pm) and 2 different unhoused people came up asking for money while I was trying to get the charger connected, which was unnerving to say the least. Hopefully this was just a fluke and the bugs will be worked out if and when I decide to try this charger again. *Tip* If you use Plug & Charge on Ford's BlueOval Network, disable it in the Ford app to save $0.10 per kWh by paying through the Blink Charging app instead.” — Brandon Letterman, 5 months ago
