“This was my fifth of six SC stops, 722 mi. in on a 1000 mi., 17-hour westward trip. This SC is located right off the exit at a shell gas station with a huge convenient store, clean bathrooms and a Denny’s. There is also a TA travel center next door. While there aren’t any other options within walking distance, this is a great stop because it’s not out of the way like other SC locations and instead is attached to a gas station, which have proven to be the oasis that road warriors have come to count on for decades. Would be happy to see more SC setups like this as EVs become more pervasive. There are 8 stalls providing up to 150kw L3 DC fast charging, but you can’t pull in any of them with a trailer in tow. These are all back-into slots. However, there is ample parking in the lot to unhook your trailer if needed. I arrived with a 12% SOC, which afforded me a charging rate of 143kw, which tapered off to 80kw but not before adding 175mi in 25 minutes. This seemed like just the right amount of time to use the restroom, grab some snacks and drinks, and stretch out before getting back on the road. If I can keep these stops to 15 minutes that would be perfect but there are additional factors to consider such as SOC upon arrival, if the battery is preconditioned, the weather, max transfer rate at the SC, how much you fill, how far your next stop is, etc. With a 70% SOC and 230mi of range, I headed towards my last charging stop in Centerville, TX.” — Aamir Atl, 3 years ago
