“Electric cars will never breach the mass market while getting the charge started takes longer than filling the tank. Musk can't fix what a 40 headache it is trying to locate/communicate/isolate/facilitate &, finally operate one of the competitive charge stations. I had 2 1/2 hours to kill. I drove past an interesting museum to give my Volt a partial charge that I can live without. By the time I got "ChargeSmart EV" loaded onto my phone (easy), logged in with a password I won't know someday when I need it, arranged payment (which doesn't work validate at the post), figured which unit I was parked at (that is a whole story of unupdated numbers and stickers), learned how to use the bypass payment system with the application... well I had 35 minutes left to charge. The ap says there are 6 cords identified here. There are four. All have my J1772 plug, so bring your adapters. They are in front of a Red Roof, so the target is overnighter, not travelers on I 86. Reasonable for level 2. It works fine...once you are in. If I had dealt with this at the hotel where I was staying last night, I would have surrendered to the long day and gone to bed with no charge. It's a Volt. I can do that. I shouldn't have to. Anybody who signs up with a new brand network knows that the hassle level sells ICEs. This one has barcodes that don't identify units. The fast working ap search gives you 6 numerical choices for 4 units that don't have any corresponding numbers on the microprint or on the screens. Once you have credit card loaded, the units don't accept it on the unit. Perhaps later. That is handy. Maybe the RFID reader is only for their key fob system. The graphics deny this. There is no instruction. Just one reminder why people who drank the government kool-aid and bought an electric without home charging access are trading in for gasoline.
