What drivers have written

“Don’t bother with EV connect chargers. They charge you a flat additional fee of $10 if you exceed 3 hours. And they charge at ~200V and 29A typ which ends up being very slow. Just go to Tesla or some other fast charger or be sure to unplug at 2 hours and 59 min.” — Abbey, 9 months ago

“***NOTE: There are NO EV chargers at the address listed!!!*** The address provided is for the Marriott Shadow Ridge resort, but all four charging stations are INSIDE the resort and require a room key to get past the gate. There are NO chargers at the check-in / main building. They also do not show them on the resort map. I went around and found all four chargers. They are in front of buildings 1300, 1600, 2800, and over by the fitness center in the far southeast corner of the property. These appear to be good quality EV chargers, but they are not located where this icon shows on Google Maps. They are spread out amongst the buildings of this Marriott Vacation Club resort, and you need a room key to open the gate to go into the resort where the chargers are. It's somewhat confusing to get it started at first. I downloaded the EV Connect app and set up an account. At the EV charger, I used the app to scan the UPC code on the charger, but nothing happened. So then I used the app to manually start the charge by selecting the charger and telling to start charging. Problem #1: On the map, it doesn't show any EV chargers where I am standing in front of my resort building about half a mile south of the check-in front desk where the Google Maps icon is, so I can't just select the one I'm geographically closest to. Problem #2: On the display screen for the EV charger, it tells me, "Scan RFID Card or Use App, ID: BTC1623." So I enter BTC1623 in the app, and it says it can't find a charger by that name. Printed on the sticker underneath the UPC code it says "Station Port ID EVC1163." When I entered EVC1163, then the app successfully found the charger. Problem #3: Nowhere on the physical EV charger or the display screen does it tell you which side is Port 1 and which side is Port 2. With my car plugged into one side and nobody plugged into the other side, you would think it would just show you on the app that Port X is connected to a car, do you want to start charging? But nope. So I just figured I would try one and then the other. I tried starting the charge on port 1 and the connecting indicator spun and spun and spun and spun. I tried exiting out but it wouldn't let me. After a couple of minutes it timed out and said there was a problem starting the charge. Then I tried the other port and it started charging right away. SO! Port 1 is on the LEFT and Port 2 is on the RIGHT as you stand looking at the EV charger screen. Lots of people have complained in the EV Connect app reviews that the pricing scheme is confusing and complained about the $10 fee. I think I figured out how it works. For the first 3 hours your are plugged in, it only charges you the kWh rate which is 49 cents per kWh. That's highway robbery IMHO. If you stay plugged in for longer than 3 hours, then they add a $10 fee on top of it. I suspect that is to discourage people from plugging in for longer than 3 hours so that other people get a chance to use the charger. I'm not planning any long drives for the next several days, so I'm just going to do several” — Kevin S., 2 years ago

“Charger is slow and expensive. Took four hours to deliver 33 kwt and total price 17 dollars!” — Michael, 6 months ago
