“Easy to get to in one corner of the East Marina parking lot. There is an overhead awning to help keep you dry. I had to try 2 chargers to find one that worked properly as the spring loaded cable that retracts the charging cable puts a lot of sideways force on the connector when it's plugged into the vehicle, causing it to disconnect. It's a fairly slow 30-amp AC charger that showed about 25mph on my car. It's part of the ChargePoint network and responded quickly to the ChargePoint phone app to unlock the cable. EDIT: There was an error message on the screen warning about the impending loss of its 3G connection, so unless it's upgraded, it may have problems in the coming months. This has been resolved for a long time. All 3 charging posts are almost always working now. If there is a problem, there is a phone number right on the charger that let's ypu call in the problem directly to chargepoint so it gets fixed. END EDIT... There are several spots to get some food or drink within a short walk, including a deli, pizza/Italian, and a few other restaurants. Best of all, this charger is provided free by the Town of Hempstead. I am deducting 1 star because each charging post is shared across 2 cables, halving the speed. Thete are other ChargePoint level 2 chargers that run full power to all connections. The other ding is for the way the app responds. For some chargepoint locations, ypi don't have to open or run the chargepoint app, just hold yoir phone up tobyhe screen and it works. In Point Lookout, you have to open the chargepoint app before holding it to the screen, or you get an error message. Still, at the end of the day, it's a great deal. During nice weather, get a free charge and walk into town to get some great food, ice cream, coffee, etc. Walk to the park at the eastern end of the street and go right down to the water.
