“The EV charging station at the Adirondack Welcome Center off I-87 is a solid option if you’re in need of a quick top-up while on the road. The station has two stalls, equipped with three CCS handles and one CHAdeMO handle, but the charging speed maxes out at 50 kW. While this might be disappointing if you’re expecting a faster charge, it’s still a lifeline for those running low on power. I used stall number two, handle number two, and while the card reader seemed to be out of order, I was able to activate the session through my EV Connect app. Thankfully, I also had a proximity card for that network, so getting set up wasn’t an issue. I reached the top speed of 50 kW, which, although not fast, was enough to get me on my way to the next faster charger. Beyond the charging, the Adirondack Welcome Center itself offers clean bathrooms, vending machines, and a dog walking area, making it a convenient stop for a quick break. There’s even a place for kids to relax, so it’s a good option for those needing a brief rest on a long drive.
