What drivers have written
“This is my favorite fast charger. I stop once a week on my way home a get a coffee from the rest area while the car charges. I set up an Applegreen account before I went for the first time. When I got there I plugged in and confirmed on my app I wanted to set up plug and charge. Thats it. Now I just drive up and plug in. There are only 2 CCS and 2 NACS at the station. There is almost always a NACS open, and I have used a NACS adapter with my car successfully. Plug and charge still worked. Unfortunately the price has gone up twice in the last 2 months, it used to be quite a bargain, but not anymore.” — Dan D, 9 months ago
“Our first time at this Applegreen charging station but we have used others on the Garden State parkway and the New York State Thruway. Two chargers each with one NACS plug and one CCS plug. One issue is that one of the CCS plugs in in a handicap spot. There is a sign that says “Reserved Parking” with a handicap logo and a sign under that that says “Penalty $200 first offence and $250 minimum and up to 90 days of community service for repeat offenders. Tow away zone”. Other EV charging places have signs that say “This spot should be the last used spot”. Sometimes I think Applegreen just doesn’t care about EV charging at all. They should make EV charging easier. Whenever we charge at one of their rest area chargers we end up buying something to eat and drink. It takes an EV longer to charge than ICE cars so people spend more time at the rest area and spend more money there. Many of these new Applegreen rest areas still don’t have any chargers and some like this one only have two chargers. Plus they made Tesla remove chargers for all Applegreen rest areas. Some had a dozen Tesla Chargers and were replaced with two or four Applegreen chargers. Everyday there are more EVs on the road and Applegreen is doing a poor job. I like their chargers, just not enough of them. They support Plug and Charge on our car making charging easy. In NJ they are charging $0.40kW which is a great price. If you use their app you are charged $0.35 but $0.40 if you use plug and charge. It’s not clear that you pay extra to use plug and charge. Applegreen on the NY Thruway the price is $0.64kW…wow. Applegreen has beautiful buildings with a good selection of food and always clean bathrooms. Applegreen has a monopoly on the NJ Turnpike, GSP and NY State Thruway. I don’t know if anyone can put pressure on Applegreen to expand their charging ports and fix the handicap sign issue at the Richard Stockton Service area.” — Bill, a year ago
“Great to finally have CCS charging on the NJ Turnpike. All of the CCS plugs were being used, so I had to use my NACS to CCS adapter to charge my car, but everything worked. I even have my car enrolled in Autocharge so it started charging shortly after I plugged in. Only suggestion I have is if we could get native NACS cables instead of using what looks to be a CCS to NACS adapter attached to all the CCS handles. I've seen a lot of people using their NACS to CCS adapters to charge with the NACS handles and it definitely looks sketchy.” — Jan Chris Tacbianan, a year ago
