“This is in response to the comment by Greg Danekas: It takes me 5 seconds a day to plug my car in at home and it will charge for free from my solar panels while i sleep. I start every day with a "full tank". If you do the math, I charge my car once a week in my garage. 5 seconds times 52 weeks equals 4 minutes and 33 seconds standing at my car a year. While a gas owner stands at their car 5 minutes each week filling up times 52 weeks or 4 HOURS and 33 minutes a year. In ten years an ev owner spends 43 minutes standing at their car while a gas owner spends 43 HOURS! standing st their car. I have to admit as an ev owner it will take 30 minutes to charge on a roadtrip. But some people very rarely take road trips. Or you plan to charge when you stop to eat. I even enjoy sitting in my car sometimes to charge while i listen to youtube, new music,clear my emails, or call a friend i haven't talked to in a while. I will never go back to gas. The acceleration, no trans shifting and silence an ev delivers out weight the road trip negative. I can take my wives gas car if a road trip is time sesative. Also, batteries get recycled or repurposed and not trashed. They are too valuable. And most will outlast any gas engine. Cost to replace batteries is dropping so fast it will be a non issue.
