“They fixed the complaints I’ve been reading. I used the left charger CSS1. Worked great. Cellphone service was good. 87KW was the max speed with a css to nacs adapter. Was able to hit up the general store and visitor center across the street, while leaving it to charge. “TESLA UPDATE: The only option for the machine that’s compatible with the adapter that comes with the Tesla is the orange slow charging 7.6kW max rate machine. (The fast charging DC CCS1 charger has two additional prongs under the main 5, which makes the OEM Tesla adapter not fit) (picture included) Nov 12th 2025 there are 3 machines. 1) Orange - 7kW rate @ $0.39/kWh + $0.99 charging fee (compatible with the adapter that comes with the 2026 Tesla Model Y) 2) Middle console not working 3) Other end console $0.59/kWh up to 150kW rate (looks like the same plug as the orange machine with three big circles and two small circles - compatible looking with the adapter that comes with the Tesla) Wanted to post this for those looking for options to charge that wanted to venture down HWY 20 but wasn’t sure if there car could make it here and back. This is a workable non Tesla supercharging location to ensure you make it back safely. (Since there are no Tesla superchargers within range to do a full loop around the northern HWY 20 and back around the mountains, to colchuck lake and back to the city) The Orange charger is cheaper but astronomically slower. 4 hours and 45 mins to go from 37% to 80% at 7 kW rate (I wish I new this before, since the Orange machine does not display the rate, and I only found out from my Tesla after I started charging) Hope this helps you on your journey & adventures!” — Alan Nguyen, 10 months ago
“Are you like me, wondering if these chargers are going to work when you arrive based on the mixed reviews? "Will I actually need to charge?" That was me, driving from Burlington, wondering if I would make it back there or need to stop here. First I charged in Burlington at the pull through chargers, and honestly even after driving up to Diablo Lake, I would still be able to make it back to the supercharger no problem. But I wanted to stop and see if these actually worked to write a helpful review. First, there are 3 charging options here. CCS1, CHAdeMO, and J1772. You'll need an adapter if you want to charge a Tesla. I bought a $50 CCS1 adapter on Amazon. After you pull up to one of the chargers, you'll scan the QR code with your phone camera located directly above the handled charger you'll be using. And yes there's phone service here, at least with AT&T. The rest of the park has just about zero bars everywhere. After you scan it, you'll have to enter your credit card info, and then it says to plug it into your vehicle. After about 30 seconds, my car started charging at 61kW. My only complaint is the cost for the CCS1 charger at $0.49/kWh which is quite a bit. Superchargers are usually around $0.35 which adds up if you need a full charge.
