“If there's barely any vehicles charging here, this is the perfect location as $/kWh is much more affordable. Otherwise if more than 3/4 of all stations are used you might as well test your luck in Castaic or Bridgeport Marketplace as Castaic has a fixed $/kWh ratio 24/7 and Bridgeport has an off-peak time (no matter if they're full or not). I tend to avoid stations like these just because they can go from 2-3 vehicles to a filled station within 10 minutes which can screw over the pricing for someone on a budget. “This Supercharger used to be solid, predictable, and actually convenient. Now it feels like a masterclass in how to squeeze extra money out of drivers who don’t have much choice once they pull in. You show one price while people are planning their route, and then — surprise — a different price appears when they’re already plugged in. Very clever. Almost like the system is designed to take advantage of the exact moment when drivers are low on battery and out of options. At this point, it’s hard not to see it as straight-up greed disguised as “dynamic pricing.” Funny how the price never seems to “dynamically” go down when you arrive. Charging infrastructure is supposed to build trust and make EV ownership easier. Instead, this feels like a bait-and-switch experience wrapped in a premium brand image. If this is the direction things are going, don’t be surprised when more drivers start avoiding these locations whenever they can.
