“Awesome place to charge!!! Chargers are fast and easy to find (right next to Starbucks), and very close to I-87. There is also a McDonald’s and Subway nearby. Price per kw is 0.45 cents. The dispensers (there are 4, not 5) accept credit cards or other contactless payment options. “This is a new charging station as of the end of January, 2025. It’s in a great location. Just off the NY State Thruway northbound and next to a Starbucks. It’s not easily visible from the main road but that doesn’t really matter since EV drivers use apps. It’s in the front of a large parking lot that is mostly empty. The parking lot also has a pizza parlor, burger place, CVS and a short walk to Mcdonalds. This is part of EVolveNY. There is one handicap parking spot. The price was listed as $0.45 and has an idle fee after ten minutes. Both sound fair to me. On our third visit to this site we plugged in and our car started to charge. Within a minute the transformer blew up. Someone came running over to us, thinking our car blew up. There was a large bang and smoke was coming out of the transformer. I unplugged and backed up to get further away from the chargers even though I don’t think the chargers have anything to do with it. It was just the large green transformer. Within 5 minutes two fire trucks were on the scene. I’m sure the guy who ran over called the fire department or 911. He seemed upset. I called EA and told them what happened so they could turn off the chargers until someone checks out what happened.We stopped back on Tuesday after the weekend and they were fixed and being tested. Back online that evening. We could get only 54kW on our Equinox EV. Conditioned the battery for 25 minutes before arrival with 30 degrees outside. Still new to EVs so not sure if this was the chargers, our car or needed more time to pre-condition.” — Bill, a year ago
