What drivers have written

“This was my first charge away from home in my new EV. I expected to have to figure a few things out but I didn't expect the mess I encountered. I plugged in my car, gave it my credit card, got charged the $3 connection fee and started charging. Seemed like it was going to be easy. 15 seconds later it quit charging and said there was a problem and I had to unplug, count to 10 and plug back in. Then it wanted me to start over, pay another $3 and try again. I called the number on the station and talked with a friendly, polite and completely unhelpful person who said this was the normal way things operated. When I asked her to confirm that they were charging me $3 to test out their hardware for them she offered to take my information and kick my problem up to the next level of assistance where I could expect to hear from them by email maybe as soon as tomorrow. She also suggested I try a different charger so I moved my car to a charger where someone had just left after charging. This one would not read my credit card so I called the friendly and polite help line again and this time they were helpful and they took my credit card info over the phone and started the charge from their end. Finally, success! I still have no idea what the whole process will cost but at least I learned that I can't rely on on-the-road chargers. :-( Update: it's now been two days. I gave the representative of EVgo my email address when I spoke with her two days ago and she said she would escalate my problem to the next level and I should hear from them by what is now yesterday. So my review still stands - this company is happy to charge you $3.00 so that you can test out their equipment for them.” — Brian McMinn, 3 months ago

“First time using a charging station. Charged a vehicle that was at about 38% to 80% in about 45 minutes. It did cost $55 super easy and safe. Update - the charging station places a hold for a certain amount and then adjusts the price so this ended up being a $20ish charge!” — Damion W, a year ago

“My first e rental car. I needed to charge it up before returning it to avis. I wasn't sure where or how. Looked up evgo charge in Austin, Texas, where I was. Called customer service a real person guided me to a station 3 miles away. Went to shopping mall lot plenty of chargers easy to figure out used a credit card on machine to pay. It cost about $1 dollar per minute fast charge took 25 mins to fill my rental. Would do it again thanks joe” — Joe Page, a year ago
