What drivers have written
“Charging station owner doesn’t even know how to interpret their own electric bill. Maybe they should call ComEd and actually have them explain it to them. No charge station owner shouldn’t understand how power billing works. The demand charge is a one time fee based on the maximum rate pulled from the grid during peak hours over the course of the month. It could have been pulled for 15 minutes or 150 hours, the cost is the same. The way the station can offset this (which the vendor obviously does not apparently know) is by selling as much electricity as possible. Lowering your rates and pumping cars through day in and day out will serve much better long term. If the owner can’t seem to understand that, then maybe it’s time to close down and rethink the goals here. FYI, there’s multiple posts on Reddit about this vendor explaining this as well. Why the vendor opened the charger without a basic understanding of power billing is beyond me. Nonetheless, avoid this charger until the station owner learns how power billing actual works and has a basic grasp on running a charging station.” — Jacob D, 4 months ago
“DO NOT CHARGE HERE, you will be billed HUNDREDS of dollars! I charged here many times this winter and they were priced reasonably, but today the kWh rate was set to $15.00/kWh and I was billed $670 for my charge. Absolutely insane. (Edit: MES EV has confirmed the rate of $15.00/kWh is correct and will not be changed. It has now been raised to $15.94/kWh!)” — Nic Tierman, 4 months ago
“Charged here in May and was charged $616.56 to go from 33%-80%. The bill was then dropped down to roughly $25. I go and charge roughly 1-2 months later and was then charged for $728.41 to go from 38%-95%. This generally will cost anywhere from $30-$40 depending on the time of day and station you go to. I would stay FAR away from this station and never use this. The rates when they first got installed were great and on par with any of the normal charging stations you visit in the area. I will never go back to this charger and recommend this to NO ONE!” — Stephen Lietzow, a month ago
