“They're nice modern chargers here which go up to 150 KW. The problem is there's no way to start them with a credit card. According to the sticker on the charger, you need to download the "Shell Recharge" app, but if you try to download that from the app store, it says that app is now retired. You can try to use the "Shell: Fuel, Charge & More" mobile app, but once it detects you're in Canada, even if you're already logged in, it kicks you out and asks you to create an ID specific for the country. OK so let's do that....but it turns out, if your email and/or phone number is already registered in the US, it won't allow you to register for the Canadian region because it says the same email or phone is already in use. So in summary, we have a wonderful piece of infrastructure here, which cannot be used with any normal payment method (credit card, NFC payment, or Google Pay or Apple Pay). Someone made the decision that you can ONLY use the Shell app, which is an immature and confusing mess. td:dr - I could not get their app working and the charging unit will not just take a normal credit card or Apple pay or Google pay. This kind of horrible customer experience is what's holding back EV charging from being like gas pumps and "it just works."” — John Wyss, a year ago
