What drivers have written

“At this location on the north side there are two free Chargepoint fast chargers. Two free Chargepoint slow chargers just to the right of the fast chargers. Several free CippleCreek slow chargers on the south side and on the west side one of which is for handicap only which is apparently not enforced as I've seen non handicap people using it even though there are other open chargers, so maybe that should be relabeled handicap priority rather than exclusivity like in a theater with handicap seats that would need to be given up if needed or a like a yield sign rather than a stop sign. Then one on the south side near the handicap one is the only Not Free EVgo fast charger 50 kW named "Robbie". When I first found the place, there were multiple chargers and it was only after an area assessment did I figure out which ones are free. Unfortunately, there are no signs to help you to rapidly decide which chargers are free so you have to go snooping around to be able to figure this out. The place looks a little bit run down, could use a refresh. I wish the overheads (only on the South side) would protect you from the weather there are no overheads on the North side so you get sunbaked along with the Chargepoint fast chargers sun damaged display screens that you can barely see through. Okay, there are three different companies with chargers here, this review is only for the Chargepoint and CrippleCreek chargers, the EVgo has it's own Google maps post titled EVgo which I will review on that post. In my case on one visit I got tired of waiting for the free chargers to be available so I used the EVgo charger so I could get home after a long 12-hour shift at work. On a different day I managed to wait 1 hour and get my chance at one of the Chargepoint free fast chargers after talking to someone who got there after I did and magically thought she was the only one waiting for a charger and gave me a sob story as to why they need the charger more than I do. Fortunately, both chargers opened up near the same time so there wasn't any argument, but be prepared to confront people as to who gets the next charger. To me the free chargers are a fantastic idea but it's like honey bees flying around waiting for an opportunity to grab one of the only two free Chargepoint fast chargers and they just come out of nowhere all of a sudden. I know on the chargepoint app you can be notified when one becomes available, so maybe that's what they're doing and then as soon as they're available, people arrive out of nowhere. No line, no take a number, no appointment. Just a free-for-all random first come first serve. I would suggest that my city Palm Desert install more free chargers to help alleviate the frenzy for the only two available fast chargers, that's if they can afford it and if the solar panel capacity is there. I don't know those details, but there's a lot more EV's out there every year and it's just going to be more of a demand. Better signage indicating which ones are free, what speed they are and an app to form a line so that someone who's not next in line cannot activate the chargers unless the next person times out or voluntarily cancels their place in line? Also some Uber and Lyft drivers are using these for business purposes.” — Brett Atencio, a year ago

“Never expect of Free DC charging in the middle of palm desert. There are two DC charging available. It was a late evening. Everything went well at this Charge Point. There is a EVGO paid-charger right next to this station.” — Alex Chan, 2 years ago

“Always a long wait here. 1 DC fast charger is "UNAVAILABLE" and the other is running at 24kW at its fastest. These need to be serviced.” — ScttStphn, a year ago
