Can my EV make this trip?
Pick your car, how charged it is and how far you are going.
A worked example
A Mahindra XUV400 EV is rated for 456 km. Leaving with a 90% charge on a 250 km trip, it can drive about 287 km before it needs a charger, so it can make the trip without charging. These figures use 70% of the rated range as usable, the same rule the Zevvy route pages use.
Try your own
Yes: it can make it without charging.
Range available now: about 287 km. Each stop adds about 255 km.
How it works
The range your car can use is 70% of its rated range, because rated ranges come from test cycles and you should not run to zero. That is multiplied by how charged you are when you leave. Each charging stop is assumed to fill to 80%, the usual limit for fast charging. If the trip is longer than the range you have now, the shortfall is divided by what one stop adds, and rounded up.
This is arithmetic on stated figures, not a forecast of your road. Hills, speed, weather and a heavy load all change real range. Zevvy's route planner picks actual chargers that fit your car along the way.
