EV trip cost calculator
What does a trip cost in a petrol car, and in an electric one? Use your own prices.
The prices below are examples, not current prices. They were set on 2 November 2026 only so the calculator has something to show. Replace them with what you actually pay.
A worked example
A 250 km trip in India, in a petrol car doing 15 km per litre and an EV using 15 kWh per 100 km, charging at home 70% of the time: the petrol car costs about ₹1,667 in fuel and the EV about ₹435 in electricity, so the EV saves about ₹1,232. These use the example prices above.

Petrol car: ₹1,667
Electric car: ₹435
The EV saves ₹1,232 on this trip.
How it works
Fuel cost is the distance divided by your petrol car's kilometres per litre, times the price of a litre. EV cost is the distance times your EV's kWh per 100 km, times the average price of a kWh. That average mixes your home tariff and public charging by the share you choose.
Real efficiency changes with speed, load and temperature, especially cold weather in Canada. Charging also loses some energy; use a kWh per 100 km figure that includes it if you know one.
